In 1972 the Grand Court, Order of the Amaranth, State of California, sold the Amaranth Home For Girls and deposited the proceeds with the California Masonic Foundation. These funds were invested by the Grand Lodge of California and the income generated from the investment is used to fund Amaranth scholarships. The awarding of these scholarships and all of the administrative duties attendant thereto are handled by the California Masonic Foundation. In late 1993, a major contribution was received to establish the "Wilson O. 'Ted' and Ruby S. Wade Amaranth Scholarship Fund." These two funds comprise the Amaranth Scholarship Program. Scholarships from the Amaranth Scholarship Fund are awarded to girls meeting the basic requirements of the California Masonic Foundation scholarship program. Girls receiving awards from the Wade Scholarship Fund must also attend school in California as well as meet the basic requirements of the California Masonic Foundation scholarship program. Recipients are selected by the Scholarship Committee of the California Masonic Foundation and, while Amaranth scholarships are restricted to girls, there are no restrictions as to race, creed, color or age. The California Masonic Foundation has its own scholarship program. Awards from this program have no restrictions regarding race, creed, color, age or gender. Requests for applications are accepted from Oct. 31 through Jan. 31 ONLY The Amaranth Scholarship Fund was initially established with a contribution of $217,791 to the California Masonic Foundation. Since that time scholarships have been awarded exceeding the original amount of the fund. Today total funds in the Amaranth Scholarship Program are in excess of $1,500,000. Moneys earned by the fund allow us to continue our scholarship program which is one of the most important and valuable services we can provide for the young ladies of our State. We are privileged to have the opportunity to strengthen and increase this service by our contributions which may be made in several ways: through estate planning by including the Amaranth Scholarship Fund in your will or living trust, or by memorials or honorariums, or by making a direct contribution to the fund. If your contribution is a memorial or an honorarium, an acknowledgement will be sent to the proper person. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the Amaranth Scholarship Fund should send a check, payable to the California Masonic Foundation, to the Grand Lodge of California at the aforementioned address indicating the donation is for the Amaranth Fund. Our Order has benefited much from this association and we can be very proud of our mutual accomplishments. Now is the time to increase our pride and joy by adding to the permanent fund. Support this outstanding program by sending in your contribution today. Help the young adults of today prepare for the challenges of the future. A contribution to the Amaranth Scholarship Fund is: "AN INVESTMENT IN OUR COUNTRY'S FUTURE THROUGH EDUCATION"
